Huge Primitive Folk Painting of Historic Cider Mill

4,500.00

Huge Primitive folk painting of Historic cider mill. This is an unsigned oil on Masonite board. It is a very large piece measuring 53 wide x 52 3/4 high. This rustic piece would be a great statement in any Primitive or country home. The Geoppler Cider Mill still stands on the border of Ridgefield and Redding CT. The apple orchards were located above the mill, and apples were actively milled (pressed) every fall into delicious rich cider, and another process produced vinegar. It was more than just a cider mill in the early 1900's. It was also the Post Office and RR Station. Mr. Geoppler was the postmaster, but later the post office was renamed Topstone Post Office. Today, this building is being occupied as a residential home.
